TALK THERAPY

Beginning with tradition talk therapy, these sessions are enhanced by body-awareness.

We experience difficulties and stress differently when we are grounded, centered, and calm.  Learning to approach our issues from an embodied place through mediation, breathing, and centering makes a world of difference in our perspective- solutions come more easily, issues seem less volatile, and the wisdom of the body emerges. 

This process begins with open discussion and active listening about the issues at hand.  Tools are used to help clients relax, connect to their bodies, and address their concerns from a place of compassion. Grounded in the belief that the experience of being deeply heard is very healing, active listening is followed with non-judgmental reframing, creative brainstorming, and homework.  These sessions depart from traditional therapy in that they are interactive and educational as well as therapeutic. Clients learn to approach their life with a calm, open mind and a non-judgmental perspective, trying new ways of behaving and exploring the consequences. Including the body in the therapeutic process empowers the client to discover the wisdom and insight beneath our initial coping styles. 

Each session is an hour long and the number of session is determined by client and practitioner based on the issues and goals.
